Poems

I don't fashion myself to be much of a poet, but every once in a while I turn to the medium to help me through tough emotions. Here you'll find my favorites. Can you tell I like the stars?

Gift Me an Anchor

Gift me an anchor, hold me under
The unreachable ground avows my life
Gift me a shoal, rend my fantasy asunder
Show me how to love the pressure below

Gift me an anchor, bring me far from the roar
The world afar hums a siren song
Gift me deafness, silence the voice ashore
Teach me the quiet below

Gift me an anchor, drown me in night
The land beyond shines its lure
Gift me blindness, take my sight
Show me to the glow below

Gift me an anchor, make me whole
The abyss greets my trust
Gift me love, embrace my soul
Teach me that this is my home

I dream that I could grasp the stars
Hold them tight
Burn to ashes

I dream that I could join the stars
Hold them tight
Warm my soul

I dream that I could become a star
Hold myself tight
Burn to brilliance

I dream that I could move the stars
Compose the night
And truly become

A beautiful existence
Twinkling among the night sky

And burn to ashes

Psychopomp

The heir turns her gaze to the heavens
Awash in the light of herself

What lies beyond her?
Nothing

Stars well in her endless eyes
Shackled by her form

What is her body?
Wrong

Her lifeblood flows over her
Dying in astral tears

What is her soul?
Void

The canvas of flesh vanishes
Stained in celestial dreams

What lies beyond her?
Joy

A life yet to live stares her on
Promising beyond the pale

What is her body?
A vessel

She looks to the cosmos with love
Bursting with color

What is her soul?
A nebula
